My name is Leonora Reilly and I am a lover of art and creativity. I paint in acrylics with mixed media and oils creating landscape paintings inspired by my love of nature and outdoors – a sense of place with even a nod to nostalgia and memory.
Though still drawn to landscapes I am exploring a looser painterly method in my art recently as part of the online CVP course which favours the use of acrylics and mixed media; using limited palettes and my choice of warm earthy tones with teal blues and greens creating scenes full of texture and depth. Updating my skills and learning new methods keeps me improving and exploring all possibilities.
I began my art journey in earnest in 2012 attended courses with local professional artists learning from their skills whilst developing my own style. My art has many lanes and roadways depicted hinting back no doubt, to my childhood Sunday ‘spins’ with the family around local attractions and Donegal. Exploring the countryside and never lost.
Being a long-time fan of the Sky Arts Landscape & Portrait Artist of the Year shows, I had the chance of a lifetime to enter as 1 of the 50 Wild Cards in 2019 in Plymouth - the amazing experience couldn't be dampened by a wet stormy morning.
In Summer 2021, I launched the 1st Louth Plein Air Art Festival, with over 40 artists painting out in the grounds of Beaulieu House and Gardens, Drogheda.
