I have always had a love of art and as my children have become older I have attended courses with local professional artists developing my own style and use of colour.
I have tended to paint landscapes and images using warm earthy tones with teal blues and greens creating scenes full of texture and depth.
Growing up I remember drawing an elephant at aged 7 to painting my granny's back door aged 8- planting seeds of creativity.
Every Sunday my parents with 8 children would head off in the estate car my dad drove to 'go for a spin' - every trip would be different, to the mountains, seaside or towns of Donegal. Driving around, never getting lost, exploring. Always a road ahead of us and somewhere to see. I now realise how many of my paintings have a pathway, road or trail involved in them perhaps a nod to my memories.
As I grew up and left home I found my Sundays long and uneventful leading me to the art shop to buy sketch books and pencils to begin drawing and sketching. I loved getting lost in art.
Being a long-time fan of the Sky Arts Landscape & Portrait Artist of the Year shows, I had the chance of a lifetime to enter as 1 of the 50 Wild Cards in 2019 in Plymouth - the amazing experience couldn't be dampened by a wet stormy morning.
In Summer 2021, I launched the 1st Louth Plein Air Art Festival, with over 40 artists painting out in the grounds of Beaulieu House and Gardens, Drogheda.
